Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need Photoshop installed?

No. The PSD is read by PyMuPDF running in your browser, which uses the flattened composite image stored inside the file, so the conversion works on any computer with a modern browser.

Are the layers kept in the PDF?

No. The PDF contains one flattened image of the composite, so individual layers, adjustment layers, masks, and layer effects can't be toggled or edited afterward. It's a picture of the document as it looked when the PSD was saved.

Why does my PSD convert to a blank or wrong-looking page?

The converter relies on the composite image Photoshop writes when Maximize Compatibility is on. If that option was off when the file was saved, the composite may be missing or stale; resave the PSD with Maximize Compatibility enabled and convert again.

What resolution will the PDF have?

The composite is embedded at its full pixel dimensions with no downsampling, so a 300 DPI print file stays at print quality. That also means large artwork produces a large PDF; run it through Compress PDF if you need a smaller proof.

What happens when I convert several PSDs together?

They're combined into one PDF named psd_to_pdf.pdf, with each PSD becoming a page in the order listed. To get separate PDFs, convert the files one at a time.

Can I convert other Photoshop or image formats here?

Only files with a .psd extension are accepted. For PNG, JPG, TIFF, or WebP exports use Images to PDF, which also lets you set page size and margins.

Are my design files uploaded?

No. The PSD is decoded and the PDF written by PyMuPDF compiled to WebAssembly in your browser, so unreleased designs and client work never leave your machine.
