Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rotate a PDF page by an angle other than 90 degrees?

That's what this tool is for. Type any angle from -360 to 360 degrees, in steps of 0.1, into the box under a page and the thumbnail turns to match; positive values rotate clockwise and negative values counterclockwise.

How do I straighten a slightly crooked scan?

Enter a small correction such as 1.5 or -2 for the tilted page and watch the preview until the lines of text look level, then click Apply Rotations. If a whole scanned document is skewed, Deskew PDF detects and corrects the angle on every page automatically.

What happens to the page size when I rotate by an odd angle?

For 90, 180, and 270 degrees the rotation is stored as a page attribute and the page just turns. For any other angle the content is placed on a new page sized to the rotated bounding box, so the page gets larger and the corners around the content are left blank.

Does rotating by a custom angle turn my text into an image?

No. The page content is embedded as vector content and drawn at the new angle, so text stays sharp, selectable, and searchable at any zoom level. Links, form fields, and comments on pages rotated by a non-90-degree angle aren't carried over, though.

How do I rotate every page by the same angle?

Type the angle in the Batch Rotation box at the top and click Apply to All. That overwrites the angle on every page, so make any per-page tweaks after the batch step, not before.

What do the minus and plus buttons next to each page do?

They nudge that page's angle by one degree in either direction and are handy for fine-tuning after typing a rough value. For finer control, type the value directly; the field accepts tenths of a degree.

Can I rotate just one page and leave the rest alone?

Each page has its own angle field, so set the value on the page you want and leave the others at 0. Pages left at 0 are copied through unchanged.

Is my PDF uploaded to rotate the pages?

No. The thumbnails are rendered and the rotated PDF is rebuilt in your browser, and the file downloads under its original name straight from the page. Nothing is sent to a server.
