Frequently Asked Questions

How do I brighten a dark scanned PDF?

Move the Brightness slider (range -100 to +100) up to lighten the page, and raise Contrast if the text still looks washed out. When only the midtones are too dark, the Gamma slider (0.2 to 5.0) lifts them without blowing out the white background. The preview updates as you drag, so you can check the first page before applying the settings to all of them.

Can I convert a color PDF to grayscale with this tool?

Drag the Saturation slider all the way to -100 and every page becomes grayscale, which also cuts ink use when printing. If you don't need any of the other adjustments, the grayscale conversion tool does the same thing in one step.

What do the hue, temperature, and tint sliders do?

Hue Shift rotates every color around the color wheel by 0 to 360 degrees while leaving whites, grays, and blacks untouched. Temperature (-50 to +50) shifts the page toward blue on the cool end or yellow-orange on the warm end, and Tint (-50 to +50) shifts between green and magenta, which is useful for photos scanned with a color cast.

Will the text still be selectable after adjusting colors?

No. To apply the changes, each page is rendered to an image at 2x resolution and saved into a new PDF, so the output is image-based and text can't be selected or searched. Keep your original for editing, or run the result through OCR to add a searchable text layer.

Why is my PDF larger after adjusting the colors?

Every page is stored as a full-page PNG image instead of text and vector drawing commands, so the file usually grows, especially for text-heavy documents. Running the result through Compress PDF afterward brings the size back down.

Can I give a PDF a sepia or vintage look?

Raise the Sepia slider (0 to 100) to add a brown tone; higher values give a stronger antique look. Combine it with a small drop in Contrast or Saturation to soften the result, and click Reset at any point to return every slider to its default.

Does the preview show every page or only the first one?

The live preview renders the first page only, so you can test settings quickly. When you click Apply, the same settings are processed on every page of the document and the adjusted PDF downloads.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere when I adjust its colors?

No. The page rendering and the color math run in your browser, and the adjusted PDF is assembled on your device, so the file never leaves your computer.
